I'll do my best! I also remember The Smiths Arms (not Smyths) in the same area (bottom of marsh Street) and the waterloo at the bottom of East street - had a few pints in both. The only pub around there to have escaped is the Palace. And do you remember those weird 3 storey flats just round the corner from the LLoyds? they were strange buildings.

There we go - the Lloyds Arms in 1992 - 2 years before demolition[thanks Leodis] it seems the Lloyds was a very old establishment - back to the 1840s or earlier -so I think this building must be a rebuild - looks late 19th century to me

I can't resist these things,I just have to have a go.Is it Far Headingley? Weetwood Lane.Or...The little cluster of cottages at the entrance to Gotts Park golf club! I think this may have been forgotten.. want me to tell you where it is???

the Lingfields' hilarious and bizarre sign. I wonder who had the thought "I know what would make a good sign for the Lingfield - a boozy Scotsman - better still I'll model it on "Fat B*stard" from the Austin Powers films!!!!"

On both sides of the metalwork at the front of Bar Work is the legend 'Gill's West Riding Hotel'. A man was painting over it yesterday in grey but you can still see it. I believe you're right about the Army recruitment office.

I rember going in the Brassmoulder's a couple of times that was near here. I cant find anything about the 'pineapple' - never heard of that before. I do remember giong in a pub near Jack Lane in the 80s - tetley's pub everything around it had been demolished- it was called the British Queen - do you remember it?. The Craven Gate was near too of course.

A request: My wife was born and brought up by her grandparents in their pub, The Oak in Meanwood Rd. They had it all through the war years . Right up until I met her in 1958.Would anyone out there have a snap or picture of, or one that includes The Oak. We have searched all along the Leodis site. But the photos always end right before the pub.! [Theres plenty of her old school, Buslingthorpe ]. Cheers.
