Tate's have confirmed they will not re-open The Yeoman as a pub. Roof repairs I'm afraid. To be offices. Meanwhile the Ring o' Bells is up for sale Freehold. What chance of it remaining a pub?Chinese now open at the Black Horse.Summecross part demolished - just to keep the planning app. alive.Fleece and Farrier in Good Beer Guide -with Old Cock and Junction.Cheers!

Many thanks Phips - seems centuries, well it IS half of one, since the Ring o' Bells was run by a delightful very serious Irish lady by the name of Daisy Maloney. Happy days for me were the fifties and sixties - who said "eighteen sixties" ??
There's nothing like keeping the past alive - it makes us relieved to reflect that any bad times have gone, and happy to relive all the joyful and fascinating experiences of our own and other folks' earlier days.

I reported on the fate of the Pointer (Sheepscar) before during the period of refurbishment. It's fate was unknown although there was a planning application on the appropriate Leeds City Council website for a number of residential flats above licensed premises. This morning I noticed that a sign has appeared on the frontage of the building. The sign is best described as small, grubby, unprofessional and not immediately noticeable - certainly to any interested parties. It says simply 'TO LET. RETAIL. RESTAURANT' and lists a mobile telephone number.

I don't think its been mentioned on here but the Old Peacock has reopened.
there are 10 types of people in the world. Those that understand ternary, those that don't and those that think this a joke about the binary system.

It's not a very good photo, it was taken either during or just after the war. It's tough reputation was well deserved, one of those pubs where everyone went quiet if they didn't recognise you. I hope this is of some help
Daft I call it - What's for tea Ma?

cheers Johnny and Salt 'n PeppaWhat an appropriate name change for a pub with a wild reputation !I think I only went in the once and was lucky to escape without a black eye (or perhaps a circumorbital haematoma ?.... if it got more upmarket after the name change)

It was always the haunt of "Ladies of the Night" then!
