Soon as I saw how much, I knew the place was doomed!Great shame as it was the first pub I ever went in. 14 years old, 3 pints of Stone's Bitter off my face and the worlds biggest (at that time) hangover. Great Days.

You deserve a medal Sir for surviving that session at fourteen years old - it would have seen me off for sure, and maybe still would !! LOL LOL

The Traveller's at Stanningley is closed meaning that of the 7 pubs of the legendary 'Stanningley run' only 3 are currently open as pubs.It could be worse though - straying a little of topic , into Bradford - I remember in the 80's going into Bradford down the long drag of Leeds road there must have been at least 10 pubs. There are currently none! the 'last man standing' was the Waggon and Horses(which has Melbourne courtier windows) which now appears to be closed.

[quotenick="drapesy"]The Traveller's at Stanningley is closed meaning that of the 7 pubs of the legendary 'Stanningley run' only 3 are currently open as pubs.I haven't done the 'Stanningley run' since the early 70's. We used to go down hill into Bradford. I'm sure then there was a dozen or more pubs. I couldn't manage a pint in each so one or two halves were slipped in. We'd do it on a Friday night and finish off in the Karachi.

The Queen on Burley Road, a wonderful old building, is closed. . I hear a rumour that its going to be a mini Tesco......In Guiseley the 'Drop' appears to be closed.Work is going on at the New Inn, all signage has been taken down and I'd be surprised if it reopens as a pub

The Queen going is a real shame, many pints consumed there and drunk over the road at the Corner Cafe!

I haven't been in the Queens for maybe forty years, but I remember the swing door used to be closed by a piece of fabulous modern technology - a large tennis ball or similar on a piece of cord - worked perfectly !!

While the Highland was being refurbished our footy team temporarily stayed there and were known unofficially as The Burley Queen.
