The former ' City Arms' in City station - now a Marks and Spencers outle whilst the next 'unit' is the station pub - called the 'White Rose'. I remember back in the 80s that this pub, although not very promising to look at, served a mean pint of hand-pulled

I wish......(incidentally , it's in a much more 'urban ' location than you might think..)There was an off-licence where you say, but I dont think it was Beer Ritz, or sold draught ale.

tyke bhoy wrote: Not a lost pub but maybe a lost window.I noticed quite clearly something that must have been there before but I hadn't taken much notice of. One of the leaded windows on Merrion Street has "smoke room" embedded in it. Will this survive June 30th as it might be taken by some as permission to ignore the law? That window is actually what is currently the non-smoking room in that pub. If you look closely someone has made a 'non' sign in front of it out of coloured in tracing paper!

Woe and umpteen times woe!I'm sad to report the forthcoming demise of the SANDFORD ARMS at the junction of Broad Lane,Outgang Lane and Broadlea Road, BRAMLEY.The date for the final opening is,I believe 27th of July and demolition is due to take place early August.. and a new housing development is due to take place shortly after. However! The date of execution has been postponed twice already this year so theyprobably need to run the cellar 'dry' first! If they'd stuck to Sam Smith's ale they'd have had a riot on their hands at the mentionof 'Closure!'Lovely building too, such a shame.RIP!CheersArry Awk

Too many memories of chaotic nights in there. :-SDemolition will be severely hampered when they try to rip out the carpet! Serious explosives needed, I reckon, as it'll be stuck like glue to the floor. I had to cut my shoes away from it last time I was home.Where will all the local pissheads go now? Nowt else nearby. Black Lion? Hope not the Raynville, or ye'll never get any sleep after chucking out time when the Broadlea lot stagger past yer house on the way home.First the church and now the pub eh? New housing development - JUST what the area needs...more bloody chavs! Still, when that's built, you might get a decent bus service at last!RIP Sanny Arms :-(
You can take the lad out of Leeds - but you can't take the Leeds out of the lad.
