There's nothing like keeping the past alive - it makes us relieved to reflect that any bad times have gone, and happy to relive all the joyful and fascinating experiences of our own and other folks' earlier days.

I was kicked out of the highlander because I wouldn't remove my studded leather belt which the doormen said could be used as an offensive weapon. It was raining that day and the pub was full of people with umbrellas which have pointed ends.I questioned their logic as to why a studded belt is a weapon and a steel pointed unbrella isn't.This fell on deaf ears so I left.

Being younger and having spent many hours there i find the idea of a bouncer on the Highland(er) hilarious. Just shows how pubs can change. Now it's dead. :-(

The saga of the Bowling Green in Otley goes on and on. Wetherspoons until recently claimed that it will reopen in late April. Seemingly this is not now the case, and they have been prodded by local pressure into naming July as launch day. If ever there was a case of "Don't hold your breath" this is a classic.

There has been no work for a few weeks now, Blakey. There seem to be two rumours as to the feet dragging - an unstable supporting wall, and the discovery of asbestos. I heard August as the new opening date....Breath not held.

The Rock on Albert Road in Morley is boarded up. I moved within walking distance about five years ago and was a regular for a while. Then they started with the loud music on Friday nights and stopped with the Landlord bitter and Super League on the big screen. The decline seems to date from these changes.
