[quotenick="Crazy JaneIs The Cock Beck still there? It is, in Penda's Way, but whether open or shut now I can't say.
There's nothing like keeping the past alive - it makes us relieved to reflect that any bad times have gone, and happy to relive all the joyful and fascinating experiences of our own and other folks' earlier days.

Yes the Squinting Cat did revert to this name after a brief time as the 'John Smeaton'
there are 10 types of people in the world. Those that understand ternary, those that don't and those that think this a joke about the binary system.

Just driven past the Bowling Green in Otley and someone has attached a large banner to the wire fence around the place saying words to the effect"The people of Otley would like to congratulate Wetherspoon's on leaving what was once a landmark pub to fall into a state of dereliction over the last 3 and a half years" I didn't get chance to read the rest as I was in moving traffic but it seemed 2 be a scathing attack on Wetherspoon's.As it's the Victorian fayre tonight in Otley and the place will be packed I wonder if it will be left there?

Yes it definitely has - I remember reading the little notice round the lamp post which gave the closing date for objections to Wetherspoons' planning application long after they bought it. The date was October 2005 or 2006 - ooooh heck, if it was 2006 then perhaps three and a half years might be correct ??

As I said I was driving by at the time and only got a fleeting glance so it might have said 8 and a half years! Can't see a thing without my specs
