BLAKEY wrote: Si, I am astounded to hear that The Yeoman appears to have folded. I passed on my motorbike on Sunday afternoon and it appeared to be tidy and thriving. They even advertised Bed and Breakfast as well as good food.    What a shame - mind you, I don't supp;ose that large police incident in the summer did them any good, but I doubt if that would have had any long term bearing. Hi Blakey. You should have waved...I was in there then! There was no talk of closing at all, so I don't know if it was very sudden or they were just keeping it quiet. On Friday there was a charity evening for Breast Cancer, and Saturday lunch they handed out the prizes - all seemed normal. Most refugees will have moved to the Junction or the Manor, so I'm off visiting this lunchtime (purely research, of course) to find out what happened. Will report back.

I'm afraid it's true. The Yeoman is no more...I doubt if the Great Scooter Fight in the summer had anything to do with it. It was a one-off - I can't remember seeing any trouble in there before or since, despite once overhearing someone in town saying they daren't go in there!

I went past the Hare & Hounds at West Ardsley yesterday at about 2-00pm and it was shut. Whether it's just not worth opening for lunch any more I don't know -I'll investigate further. I used to live at West Ardsley - the Hare and Hounds in the seventies was one of the last refuges of hand pulled Tetleys (before the real ale revival) so much so that at one time it was in the national Good Beer Guide. I'll be gutted if it's closed permanently. Plus it'll leave the Hilltop area of West Ardsley with no local watering hole at all - Hilltop club having closed yonks ago.

Haven't read through all these pages, but was wondering if the very old Whitlock's (Whitelock's?) is still in the alley off Briggate on the right of Marks and Sparks.

It's Whitelock's - and don't worry it's still there. There really would be trouble if they tried to close Whitelock's!
there are 10 types of people in the world. Those that understand ternary, those that don't and those that think this a joke about the binary system.

I've passed it a couple of times at night within the last 2 or 3 weeks and there were no lights on?
