I think the row was demolished when Asda was built because to start with I think they used that wasteground over the road as an overflow car park then built an annexe on it as well before either RBS or HBOS took it over from them. I can’t remember anything resembling a pub in the row though. The barbers moved down Water Lane to roughly where the Leeds Brewery Pub is but I couldn’t say if it is still there as I haven’t noticed it and its about 10 years since I last used it. Thanks for your help on this but I think you'r talking about the opposite side of Victoria Rd? I may be but was basing it on this photo and description Si wrote: Michael does it again! This is the junction of Water Lane (running left to right,) Victoria Road (looking straight down,) Neville Street (behind the camera,) and Great Wilson Street (following the tram lines off to the left.) This means the Clarendon Hotel must be just out of shot to the right, I think. Picture from Leodis, and taken in 1934.     Unless I am mistaken this will have been taken facing south with the bridge over the Aire almost immediately to the back of the photographer. Asda/Walmart now stands to the left where the parade of shops is and behind/left. Bridgewater place would be to the right of the photo although much of the tower would be off the picture to the right. The Grove pub would be somewhere in the vicinity of the large chimney.BTW is the river the point at which Victoria Road becomes Neville Street or is it the junction with either Great Wilson Street or Water Lane

Claremont House Inn was in Holbeck not Hunslet.Put Braithwaite Street into Google maps,it is just off Domestic Street (not a lot to see)

From Kelley's 1916, Licensee William Aikin. Kelley's 1947, Licensee, Albert Richardson. It shows in the 1925 Trades Directory but doesn't name the licensee.

From Kelley's 1916, Claremont House Inn, 7 Braithwaite Street, Licensee Alfred Adams. Kelley's 1947 shows 17 Braithwaite Street as a lodging house. Looking at other pubs listed in the directorys, there was a renumbering of lots and lots of them at some point between 1916 - 47. So I'm guessing it's the same place.
