Let's hope so. Are there any other "new" pubs opening in Leeds, bucking the trend of mass closure?     Si - can you tell me what's happening in Otley these days - i haven't been up for a couple of months. Last I heard the Bowling Green (obviously) The Woolpack, the Black Horse, the Fleece and the Spite were all closed - is this still the case??? Hi Drapesy. The Bowling Green begins it's transformation into a Wetherspoon's next month (or so I'm reliably informed,) The Woolpack is still surrounded by concrete barriers, no sign of life at the Fleece, but The Spite has re-opened. The Black Horse is a very sorry sight. Bang in the middle of town, beautiful late-Victorian architecture and closed! The hanging pub sign has finally fallen out of it's frame, and there are weeds growing in the gutters. There were only three teams in The Yeoman pub quiz last Thursday. Apparently, two teams tied for first place, but one of them couldn't be bothered to enter the tie-break. Must be nice to be able to turn down the chance of eight free pints. (I was the other winning team - thanks lads! Cheers!)

Armley has been decimated pub wise- and the loss of any pub, even one that you might not go in, diminishes choice and has a negative impact on the area as a whole- as does a closed and shuttered business , whether pub shop or whatever.     Armley was decimated a long time ago old pal.Even the charity shops are closingAnother Pawn shop opensCheap shop closes down.Blockbusters moves outSmallest Post Office in Leeds(possibly)No Designated Car park8 of Cafe/ Pizza/ Chinese/Fish shop all within about 400 yards of each other3 BookiesBut you know what has put the final nail in,this council regeneratingan area too far gone to be resurrectedcos one thing is certain this council can't do owt right.Look at Crossgates Roundabout.

WHO'S THE SERGEANT WITH THE MUSCLES? Sgt. Windridge, good man. The real Windridge was actually quite an interesting, colourful and ultimately tragic character. We don't know where we are these days - I was sure that the Rising Sun had been reported as closed recently. I passed by this afternoon and it was certainly open, with a couple of "old lads" outside partaking at a table ??
There's nothing like keeping the past alive - it makes us relieved to reflect that any bad times have gone, and happy to relive all the joyful and fascinating experiences of our own and other folks' earlier days.
