The landlord was Bill Pope if I remember. He moved to the Bedford Arms but I forget the name of the village. There's a Bedford Arms at East Ardsley - that's probably the one.

The agents report no interest at all in buying it as a pub with anyone interested looking at "other uses" according to tonights YEP. Not dead yet ... it was open when I drove past earlier. The Sun at Stanningley looks closed - anyone know what's happening? The Swan with two Necks is being converted to flats I hear - shame - it's a great name if nothing else!. The nearby 'Marquis of Lorne'( latterly Beer Engine) is also being turned into flats.

Are there any other "new" pubs opening in Leeds, bucking the trend of mass closure? Si - can you tell me what's happening in Otley these days - i haven't been up for a couple of months. Last I heard the Bowling Green (obviously) The Woolpack, the Black Horse, the Fleece and the Spite were all closed - is this still the case???

Armley has been decimated pub wise- and the loss of any pub, even one that you might not go in, diminishes choice and has a negative impact on the area as a whole- as does a closed and shuttered business , whether pub shop or whatever.
