We're quite blessed in Penzance. A Leeds family bought 3 Penzance chippies and started frying the Leeds way. They have sold 2 of them now but the new owners worked for them .... as did the owner of another chippie so most Penzance chippies now fry Leeds style with beef dripping ... and we have the bonus of very fresh fish.

It was cheap but the portions were small.Chippies in Morley that are now Chinese: Middleton Road: Jt Middleton Road and Wide Lane: Britannia Road (formerly Frying Pan): Fountain Street (opp Cross Hall School): Fountain Street (formerly "In and Out"): Peel Street. That's leaving out all the other Chinese places. Who eats all this Chinese food? Apologies for wrong location Trojan but I am not old enough to live in Morley

Hi Eddie666I wonder if it's the same Midgley's who have openedrecently on Bramley Town St,near Bramley Park?Very good f&c but wait til they've been open half an hourbefore ordering! We got some a week or so back 5 minsafter they opened and got Re-fries,I think! Batter waslike leather and fish frizzled at the ends, when we got home, and it was running with fat.Anyway, all the other f&c from there have been 1st class!Thornton's is very good in Bramley centre if you don't fancy a walk to Bramley park! (Depends which end of BTS you live!).Tesco is opening in the Centre tomorrow morning! Free drinkand a cake, for the first customers they say! Don't think the'Drink' will be alcoholic, somehow!

It could quite possibly be the same ones, theyve got a couple i think, the one at top of Butcher Hill and one on St Michaels Lane, in headingley. So it wouldnt suprise me if theyve opened one over there too as they ae quite popular.

They seem to have been having a little burst of expansion in the last couple of years. There's also one in Greengates in Bradford but the one that used to be on New Road Side in Horsforth has changed its name. I'm quite surprised that they haven't tried to move in here in Yeadon, but as we've got seven chippies in town all ready it might be a bit of a tight squeeze!

Count Arthur Strong used the expression in his radio show this morning on Radio 4. I find Count Arthur hillarious, in a Yorkshire sort of way.
