Si wrote: Hi Rob,Do you remember The Bankhouse when Peter Day had it?I used to go in there a lot in the late 70s early 80s. Cnosni and I went in a few weeks ago, and it certainly didn't have the same atmosphere as it once had, unfortunately.Cheers, Si.     Yea I started drinking in there about 1997/8 and Peter had it then... proper local. He then retired to Whitby and unfortunately die shortly after. Doggie and Elaine took it over and turn the place into a gold mine with excellent food, guest ales etc. When they left some people who run the Windmill in Linton got it and its never been the same since. I only go in about once a month now.

Yeah, Peter had it for donkey's years. His father-in-law, Sam, ran the Fox and Grapes at the bottom of Smalewell Road, opposite Smalewell Drive. It was Whitbreads, so I only went in there to get a lift home from me dad after last orders! Sam could be a funny bugger. Sometimes he'd say, "Come in! Have a pint on the house, we'll have a lock-in." Other times it would be, "I'm not serving you, coming in at this time! Sod off!"

there are 10 types of people in the world. Those that understand ternary, those that don't and those that think this a joke about the binary system.

I used to work at Fulneck School and then the Cross/Fleece/Bankie used to be my haunts. We also use to go to all the pubs in Pudsey but alot have closed now. Fleece is still packed on Wednesday's though. Current owners of the Bankhouse have run the place down since the "upgrade" Hi robontheroad nothing to do with this thread but i worked at Fullneck School for over nine years retired in 2006 do i know you?Sid
