I live three or four houses down from the pub on the same side and am sad to say that the pub is now completely gone - I enjoyed the atmosphere and history of the place.Ah well - the gardens have a bit more light. Can't wait for the extra traffic though, from the flats across the road and M&S's bigger car park...

I remember going in the Chained Bull in the late sixties. What a pity it has gone.I presume that the name refers to bull baiting? Where a bull was chained (In medieval times) and then set upon by dogs such as Bull Terriers and mastiffs. I think that bets were struck as to which dog could hang on the longest!Wait for it, I will have upset the dog owners LOLSeriously though I remember driving through Leeds and past this pub, which was like a landmark, in my Hillman Minx in 1970 and it is a real shame it has gone.
Born in East leeds, then lived in Halton and aged 20 moved to Tyneside

I remember a couple of them had Panther Lima cars - presumably their boyfriend's, or bought for them by dad (their dad, not my dad.)

It's gone too now.Another sad thing - I believe the name 'Chained Bull' (owing its origin to bull baiting of course) was a unique British pub name.
there are 10 types of people in the world. Those that understand ternary, those that don't and those that think this a joke about the binary system.

Just looking at another photo of the Bull from Leodis. It shows the back of the old pub. Looking at the photo above i cant see when the new pub was built as the distance betweek the two pubs looks wrong. Almost as if the gap that we see on this one that I have attacehd is too big, unless the new bull was built post 1943 when this was taken,
