There is a report on page 13 of the Yorkshire Evening Post today (June 12 2015) about a fire at the Royal Hotel on Town Street, Armley, when its "second floor was engulfed in flames on Wednesday night". It was reported that the cause is thought to "have been an electrical fault with a cannabis farm which was discovered in a rented room in the attic of the property". The roof was said to be badly damaged.
I wonder if this could mark an end to the pub? It does though make a change I suppose from a fire suspiciously occurring in premises when they are no longer used!

Regarding the Cannabis farm upstairs.
I heard that firemen are still trying to remove the same 25 customers that were removed on Wednesday night enjoying the smoke inhalation.

As a pub it's no loss. The only downside is that another pub will be ruined by the rats leaving the sinking ship.

I went past at about 11:45 on Friday morning, it appeared to open with the usual drinkers spilling all over the pavement
