A most welcome announcement says that Wetherspoons have at last succeeded in accessing Ilkley. They are to convert a large corner part of the Moors Shopping Complex into a new "Lister's Arms." The pub will be on the corner of Cunliffe Road right opposite the original Lister's Arms which has been retirement apartments for many years now - and for we former bus employees it will be in exactly the same location as the former West Yorkshire Road Car Company bus garage, where I worked very happily in 1960/1.Deja Vu indeed eh??

Any idea when they'll be opening Blakey?

There's a really lovely artist's impression on the JDW website. I assume there will be no external construction work to do though, but simply to reorganise and refit the interior. Incidentally, out of area admittedly, but just had lunch today in their 800th pub, the Unicorn in Ripon. I believe it opened last week and is superbly and tastefully done out - the smoked haddock and mozeralla fishcakes are truly gorgeous too.
