If anyone's going to be walking their Dog/teaching kids to ride the bike/strolling through the above named woodland.......... late Sunday morning, please be aware that there's an 'inter Club Cross-Country' race taking placehttp://www.pecoxc.co.uk/index.htmlThis (2nd) round of the series* is organised by the Rothwell Harriers http://www.rothwellharriers.org.uk/There's a course map on the relevent page of the site, that shows where you might come into conflict with the runners (but where it corresponds to public footpaths/bridleways, I'm not sure?)If you see me pottering roughly 'mid-pack', give me a wave & a shout of encouragement. I might need it!!!!For visual reference;http://picasaweb.google.com/emenetwebde ... 4510850Pic taken during the Bingley Harriers 'Harriers verses Cyclists' Fell-Race in Novemberhttp://www.bingleyharriers.co.uk/html/h_v_cyclists/hvc.htm*My Club organised the 1st one a few weeks ago at Pontefract Race-Coursehttp://www.ackworthroadrunnersandac.co.uk/#

A lot of these runners seem to appear on LDWA events, and if they're really crazy manage to do the Three Peaks Fell Race. If so they'll have seen me! Seems it cost less to go on an LDWA event than these running things (and the catering's better!).Somehow, running around in December doesn't seem like fun to me, but some seem to like it. I leave the running around to the dog.
I like work. I can watch it for hours.

I'm fancying running entering that, it's roughly 23 miles, as I'm one of those bonkers Fell-RunnersBut sadly, at the moment, I don't have the qualifying times/distances, having not done enough long-distance eventsYes, due to the severity of it, there are 'target-times', for cut-offshttp://www.threepeaksrace.org.uk/There's also the 'Three Peaks Cyclo-Cross' race, that's circa 38miles (yes!!, I'm mad enough to ride 'cross' too!)Rob Jebb has won the fell-race 4 times, for the Bingley Harriers, & also won the 'cross' a staggering 9 times!!! It's masochistic tendancies emerging in us all.I don't mind the low temperatures, but can't understand the runners who compete in vests.I wear my club-vest, but always have a t-shirt under it

(I was 84th, with a 'back of the pack' start) beast wrote: Riponian, get those Three Peaks qualifiers done.I'm entering again for next year for the 6th time. Not very fast but I usually get round ok. Or was that aimed at me???I suffered enough though, during the 'Holme-Moss Fell-Race' in July - that was grim for the middle of summer

"Riponian, get those Three Peaks qualifiers done."Well as I'm with the organisers and usually halfway down Whernside keeping an eye out for injuries, I don't run round it. I leave that to the more enthusiastic, they seem to enjoy it.However if you decide to allow gravity to speed up your descent a little too much, we'll have you on the paraffin budgy and heading for hospital or carted off by Cave Rescue smartish.

There's no 'Abbey Runners' around the 70th positionMy apologies, I've not managed to get a swap/change days-off/get a lieu-day/etc......, so I won't be there lagging at the backIt appears that very few 'Ackworth' members will be, as there's a coach-trip going up to Loftus in the morning for the 'Poultry Run'http://www.loftus-ac.co.uk/PoultryRun.aspxBy The Way;You weren't one of the 'A-Rs' at the 'Withins SkyLine, or the Harriers verses Cyclists' were you??http://woodentops.org.uk/index.php?topi ... ts/hvc.htm
