The attached photo is if the one of the entrances to Gledhow Woods locals tell me that originally it was a path for ladies to be driven along in their coaches.

Does anyone know how far it went, there seems to be very little of it left now. Or how old it is?

I used to live nearby and went there regularly......It was actually a gateway to Gledhow Hall, if you don't know where that is just ask me for a photo and a little map. But yes, coaches did enter this way but not just ladies.

If anyone here is interested and didn't already know there is a website (and organisation) with thanks to the friends of gledhow valley woods.....Take a look at
www.fgvw.co.uk and every year there is a big meetup and fair on the corner of Allerton Grange Way and Gledhow Valley Road. Take a look at "dates for your diary" for more info or you could always ask me!!Here's an interesting extract i've found with thanks from FGVW: FGVW wrote: The Hall was built on monastic land. In 1601 the estate was purchased from Elizabeth I by the Thwaites family..... So, if the house was built around this time, perhaps earlier, the track must have been built around this time too!

Does anyone know what the building to the South of the woods is for? It is fenced off now, and when we climbed up it years ago, there was some sort of large pool on top, filled with condoms.

I think you're probably referring to the 17th century bath house
