That looks very alarming. I wonder whose responsibility it is to make it safe or at least as safe as possible.
Looking at old maps it seems the shaft was at the West Yorkshire Colliery.

Another picture, taken this morning. Fence is trampled down (not by my bike) and a fallen tree, branch over the pit.

Makes me wonder who is knocking the fence down, probably kids for a dare. I can't understand why it has not been properly dealt with, might email the council.

This may have been resolved today as I saw aggregate being off loaded into a dumper truck at the access to these woods, so they may be sorting out the shaft.
