Anybody know anything about this? According to Wikipedia, Beeston had the largest number of bombs dropped on it but the least damage, as they almost all fell in Cross Flatts Park. Flaxton Terrace was damaged the same night - I've seen some photos on here about that.I live in Beeston but don't know any older folk to ask, unfortunately, I would love to know more if anyone can help?

If you go into the new Leeds Museum, they have a section on the bombing of Leeds during WW2 complete with a nice light up map showing exctly where bombs fell.They have some recollections by people as well,but i don't know whether this is refered to specifically.worth looking at though.

The poet Tony Harrison, who grew up in Beeston, has written a poem about this event - apparently there was a theory that the bomber had acted 'humanely' by deliberately dropping the bombs into the park rather than on the houses, to minimise casualties.Here's a link to the poem, and one to a BBC article about the story:
