I remember my dad telling me that he had seen plans in the 1950`s for a large stadium to be built on the fields near ebor gardens and Torre road, if the plans existed they must have been binned along with the briggate skyscraper and the underground tram system.

Hi, could it have anything to do with Burtons the tailors? They were big on sport in the past in the area.

Possibly, but the stadium my dad was on about was on the grassed area on the ebor side of torre road, he said it could have housed speedway aswell as football, rugby and athletics. We used to have a speedway track on fullerton park where the valentines fair operates, opposite what was the dog track.
