I've heard rumours that one or both of the golf courses at Temple Newsam were being primed or built as a possible venue for the Ryder Cup but that the war intervened and the vision shelved. Can anyone validate this or throw any further light over the matter?

Moortown Gold Club hosted the Women's Ryder Cup in 1929, and to this day the ladies at Moortown play for their own 'Ryder Cup' which was donated by Samuel Ryder himself in recognition of their help and support at the 1929 event.More info is available at
http://www.moortown-gc.co.uk/ryder_cup.htmlDunno about Temple Newsam though ...
