Did anyone ever go to that fun area at Roundhay park in the 70s-80s? I cant remember everything that was there but there always stood a helter skelter and a row of swing boats that seated 2 kids and had ropes hanging down which you used to pull to make you go higher. Also think it had a merry go round too.We always went there on a saturday in the very early 80's and I think may have been demolished before 1990 but I could be wrong there.

I have read somewhere recently about a famous, early, electric boat named the "Mary Gordon" that took people on a little ride across waterloo lake in the late 1800's and early 1900's (So obviously not around in the 80's but thought it was worth mentioning as there isn't anything about it on SL as I'm aware). I think it spent time in Portsmouth and used for the Royal Marine cadets. Here's a link to the organisation that is currently repairing and restoring the boat: http://www.marygordon.org.uk/(Allow time for the "intro page", as it will go to homepage automatically)

....And another thing I've just remembered, is the miniature railway track and I even remember an old shed (that I assume was a train shed) that was still there up until the 1990's. I remember this track being somewhere near Waterloo Lake up near Wetherby Road. I believe Golden Acre Park also had a similar "ride".
