This estate stretches for miles in fact; as far as where The Bridgefield pub stood on Cross Green Lane/ Ponteract Lane if not further. It also touches the edges of Swillington - or maybe Swilly was part of Tempy (nickname from locals) The old Black Road alias - Pontefract lane which had the Railway Paddy line to Rothwell Colliery and Skelton Grange Power station - why was it called the Paddy line by locals ?One theory is that it used to carry Irish men (no disrespect) to and from work down the pits in the area. Maybe East End Park was also part of this estate.

See Wikipedia entry for "paddy mail", which gives the root of your query.
