The other streets I have never found out how they were named were the Dennils off Church Lane Crossgates there was only 2 streets Dennil Road and Dennil Crescent anyone have any idea? I went to Manston primary and junior which were next to them.

Think I've been reading too many of arry's posts. Even I have to groan at that one LM! Don't mention toadstools whatever you do! LOLarry Maybe the bloke who built the street was a fungi to know...Coat on... I thought of that yesterday and rejected it as not worthy of me

There was an interesting collection of 'Streets' running between Kirkstall Road and Burley Road, in the area now occupied by Yorkshire TV, known as 'The Alphabets'. Working outwards from the city centre they were in sequence - Angel, Baker, Corporation, Dover, England, Florence, Grattan, Hollis, Jermyn, Kennedy, New Lloyd, Meynell, Newlay, Otter, Peel, Quadrant, Runcorn, Stanhope, Townend, Upton and Ventnor. I think that Ventnor Street was the last to survive until relatively recently.

First visit since being away for a few days, so apologies if this has been covered before.Intake isn't actually such a daft name for a district - Doncaster (and, I think, Sheffield) has one. It simply means land reclaimed from water.

Speaking of Kirkstall Road, wasn't one of the myriad streets of red-brick terraces running off at rightangles called Fartham Street?I bet its residents pronounced their addresses very carefully!
