Bom dia, Wiggy. No Portuguese, then? Sagres and Super Bock are Algarve beers. Budens is a village near the town of Lagos. A cooler is an insulated box for keeping commestibles cool, or hot. Not sure how it knows the difference, mind........

The road towards temple newsam has had 'problems' for a long time, a coach (of the horse kind) was traveling down towards the house and the horses freaked out and things got a bit messy, it ended up in what used to be some form of water feature at the end of the road, apparently the horses and the passengers did not survive.I was told this on a ghost walk around the place many years ago.

A bit off the point of the thread here, but didn't Temple Newsham have a lake at the side of the house at one time? If you imagine the house as a U shape, it was behind the bottom part of the U. Might be wrong, might be going mad...who knows

Looking at various old maps has come up with nothing on any lakes near the house, but the site is being a bugger!

You're right, when I was a kid (20+ years ago), there was a water garden that had slabs that you could walk along in the water. Thnk there were fish in there too.I was having a look for it last week when we took the nipper for a walk round, but couldn't quit eplace where it was in relation to todays gardens

Ooh, I don't remember any water feature there? But then we went to Roundhay Park more than Tempy when I was a kid! Be interesting to know where it was though!
