Leeds lass - what do you think about the faces in the mirror ? As some are not so nice - do you think they could be evil..? Guess we always expect the 'good' spirits to look nice don`t we..? My mother was brought up on the bank - irish area of york road - and absolutely years ago, one of her brothers got a girl pregnant and wouldn`t marry her. Apparently this girl`s mother was an irish witch. Sounds mad i know - but she put a curse on my mother`s family for 5 generations to come, that no-one would have a happy marriage. Strange thing is - no-one has ! My mother thought she had broken the curse once, as she prayed for ages in front of a picture of sacred heart - this picture was just above a mirror - and suddenly she saw the most horrible and ugly face in the mirror. It scared her to death as she was in the house alone, but she kept on praying. My mother was very religious, and she really believed she had broken that curse - but i don`t think she did as the face was laughing - and marriages continued to break down - and still are ! Makes you think doesn`t it..?That is weird you seeing all that in one room. Have you checked out the history of your house ? We don`t think you`re a fruity - tell us more - go on - i am loving it ! LS1 - That was quite an experience you had there in the library. It is very old so could be from any era. God i bet there is alsorts goes on in there at night ! I don`t think i would want to be the person who locks up..Everyone probably thinks i`m a loon but i love this stuff ! It used to scare me to death just to talk about ghosts, but since my mother died it doesn`t bother me for some reason.

Funny you should say that Franwick as I've always been really frightened about these kind of stories too. But recently (as mentioned on a previous post) my housemate heard a young girl crying in our hallway during the night a while back and our dog is always seeing things... and because of this, and the fact that I feel so safe in this flat, it has made me feel much more at ease reading these stories - I'm more fascinated than in fear now! I believe something is here in my flat but it's not scary at all.If anyone could help me out with my previous post "Haunted Apartments" that would be great as I've had no response at all... which isn't like Secret Leeds!!!Thanks,Rodley_Girl

Hi Franwick. Yes it's always fascinated me. My mum and I were both brought up with paranormal stuff - her Aunt (my great Aunt obviously) was clairvoyant and she used to be spot on with her messages from spirit. She never did it as a career, only for family, which is a shame, cos she was better than Doris Stokes in my view!!I used to go to psychic development at my local spiritualist church, in the early 90's, but I got 'taken over' by a spirit. It was a nasty experience and it scared the life out of me, so all my barriers went up and I gave it up!!I lost my mum very suddenly and unexpectedly this March and as soon as I found out she'd died, I literally felt all the barriers drop away! I thought 'well, mum's the one person who would protect me from the other side', so I feel quite safe with it all now, plus I'm older and wiser!!! So now I go to development on tuesdays and I also go to clairvoyant sessions on mondays and wednesdays (when I can make it), where they have guest mediums on regularly and mum almost always comes through. I've 'spoken' to her through Ouija sessions we sometimes have at development too. I have my own Ouija board, but you need more than one persons energy to make it successful really, so I don't get to use it a lot, as it's hard getting all my friends together at the same time!!!I know a lot of people who aren't believers, but there are an awful lot who are and daren't admit it!!! I can understand how people don't believe until they've had definate proof themselves, and that is fair enough, but I don't think that gives them the right to scoff at those who do believe.I'm not sure about the faces in the mirror, they were mainly men, with the odd woman here and there. They sometimes changed so rapidly from one to another, it was hard to know how many I'd seen! My house will probably have a lot of history, as it was built in 1900. But I'm not sure how or where to start looking into it all?!My God, I can go on can't I?!!! Anyway, here's my tale from the early hours of weds morning! Believe it if you will. . .I went to bed at 1am and woke with a start bang on 4-20am. And there, stood on my bedside table, were 2 small folk, about 5" high, one male, one female! I have a crystal ball light, that has different coloured lights you can choose and it will also play a selection of natural sounds if you want. The ball light was off and the male, who had longish blond hair and was dressed almost like Peter Pan, had both hands on the ball and was leaning round it and peering at something at the other side of the bedroom. As I was looking at him, I noticed then, that sat on top of the ball, with her leg draped down it, was a female, same height, with long blonde hair and wearing a white floaty dress. I was laid there watching them, not daring to move, when something must have spooked them and as he turned to look at me, they both vanished! I was gutted they'd gone!!! It took me an hour to get to sleep, cos I kept opening my eyes to see if they'd returned, but they didn't. I have known all about fairy folk for years and have never disbelieved in them, even though I've never seen one myself. I've always thought how lucky people were to be able to see them. I am just gobsmacked that they appeared in my bedroom! (Although I DO have a fairy door in my skirting board in the living room!! Maybe they've taken up my invitation!!!)Blessings, Deb x

Thanks rodley girl - i will go and have a look. Leeds lass - very impressive - wow....like you say, it`s up to each individual person what they believe in - myself, i don`t discount anything as i have heard loads of stuff in my time from different people - and they can`t all be wrong..Could you tell us about when you were taken over..? That sounds horrible ! Regarding the history of your house - if you can get into the central library, they have census records on all houses, going back donkeys years - also you could search the records index in there and see if there is anything recorded for your address. They are very helpful in there, if you get stuck. It`s amazing what you find sometimes. I found a piece of news going back many, many years, where a man had been shot dead on his own doorstep on shadwell lane - the house still stands there to this day. Incredible story about the 'little people' as well - my mother once had a similar experience. What is a fairy hole..?You obviously have some sort of 'gift' that has come down in your family through generations.

Hi Franwick. It's a fairy door. It's actually a little handmade wooden door, all decorated and with a door knob and eveything! You attach it at floor level to your skirting board. Then, the fairies are supposed to be able to enter your home and get naughty!!! Mooching round and hiding various things etc!!! It's just a bit of a fun, quirky thing, or so I thought!!As for the 'being taken over'. . .I used to go to development circle every tuesday lunchtime at my local spiritualist church. One particular tuesday I went, we all sat down in the usual circle and as we were settling ourselves in, I felt like I was 'looming' above everyone else. I was looking down on everyone, like my head was up by the ceiling. The lady who ran the circle was frowning at me, cos she could sense it too, so she told me to move to a different seat. It happened again. Moved again, it continued. So eventually, I sat in yet another seat and still felt odd, but thought I was ok, as I'd stopped 'looming'! We did the protection prayers etc and started to meditate. All of a sudden, it felt like someone had jumped inside my body and was flipping up and down and twirling round. It was awful and very scary. I couldn't, speak, move, nothing. The lady in charge jumped up out of her seat and came and stood behind me, put her hands on my shoulders and asked whoever it was to leave me, which it did, with a peculiar jolting sensation. I was totally freaked out by all this. (And exhausted!) As we had to go home and practise meditation as homework, I just didn't want to risk it happening again, in case I couldn't get it to leave on my own. Cos then I'd be sat like a zombie and nobody would know what was wrong with me or what to do! Hence, all my psychic barriers went up and I never went to circle again! For years I was scared stiff of anything slightly paranormal and used to have the lights blazing if I was in on my own!!! I've got better and wiser as I've got older and now know that I probably wasn't grounded for some reason and that really, the lady who led he group should have taught us all that in the basics. (It's akin to using Ouija boards and having no clue how to prepare yourself. You can't just dive into things like that, as you open yourself up to a whole lot of trouble!) Like I say, wisdom comes with age and now I protect myself fully every session I do.I felt like Whoopi Goldbergin Ghost, except not as funny!! In fact, not funny at all!!! Debx
