I recently saw an old London bus(Routemaster ?) on the 'Old George' (now the Miller and Carter) roundabout at Garforth and it drove into the pub car park !
It was painted silver and had all the London destinations showing.
Has anyone any info on this, please?
Thanks.

Hi Wykebeck,
London Buses are famously red so a silver one is a rarity.
It turns out that in the 60's London Transport had a trial of an unpainted silver bus , similar to the unpainted silver tube trains. It wasn't successful but one of them was finally preserved in its silver trim with the Daily Mail advert. So it could have been this one.

In 1977 LT painted some Routemasters silver for the Queen's silver jubilee.
So that's another possibility.

Later on First Group also painted some London Routmaster's silver

Did you get a good enough look at it to see if it was one of these?
Merry Xmas,
BP

That's all good stuff. I wouldn't have known where to start because I thought all London buses were red - except for Green Line, of course, so I found your post informative
