Correct, the trams ran up the middle of York Road, much like the guided bus does at present.

How in the old days a Tram Driver and the Conductor would help a young Mother put her Pram or Pushchair on the deck where the Driver stood and undr the stairs leaing to the upper deck. when i was still at School (late 1940s) A Tram driver would drop off some boxes of Fruit and Veg. for me to collect at the Broadway Pub on Dewsbury Road and i would take them on a Sack truck up to his shop.

Does anyone remember the Trams on Dewsbury Road that instead of going up to the Terminus ( One stop past Tommy Wass Pub. ) This one only went as far as Cross Flatts Park it had a separate Line which diverted over One stop below the Broadway Pub stop.
Unfortunately this was just where the Park Toilets were situated and in thos days only the desperate and the unwary went inside them.
