Just had to laugh.. Connects to Middleton Railway, the worlds oldest railway! Just wondered why not use the Morley route and the old Central bridge.. See it in 2040.

There is an article on page 15 of the Yorkshire Evening Post (YEP) today (July 18 2013) headed 'Leeds HS2 station design revealed' that includes "An artist's impression of the new station at Leeds". In the article it states "a dedicated station will be built on land close to ASDA House and Bridgewater Place". I notice that it shows a link from the southern (as yet to be built) entrance for Leeds city station direct,and what appears to be,over the river to the new station

The maps show that (if the scheme goes ahead) there will be major changes in how Leeds will look. It seems though that the Dark Arches are to be saved, but the view of the outflow area of the River Aire there will look greatly altered.Going off-topic (which I hope is OK) a quick look at the map I saw revealed some interesting names of streets, many of which I was unaware. I was intrigued how so many had personal names of which these are some I spotted:- Jack Lane, Joseph Street, Belinda Street, Neville Street, Victoria Street and David Street. There may be more. David Street is near Front Street which runs into Back Row. I wonder how Grape Street got its name?
