And another from the City Centre, as Leodis states... "Photograph of a police telephone box next to a telegraph pole on Wellington Street. Across the road is Fairbairn, Lawson, Combe, Barbours, Wellington Foundry"

Re the Tardis/Police Box outside Midland Bank 263 Roundhay Road.I was the "chap" quoted as saying that this was removed in the early 60s. I worked at this branch of the Bank from 1961 to 1965 and it certainly disappeared during that time. One of the Bank's Security Messengers was a retired Leeds PC who spoke of using the Box on his rounds.

I'd love to have actually seen inside one of these boxes as I think that they had a key to them so not just anybody could get in? I can just imagine a flask of hot tea there waiting for the bobby to just nip in for as he was on the beat going past!

there are 10 types of people in the world. Those that understand ternary, those that don't and those that think this a joke about the binary system.

What a coincidence!!! I'm a Huddersfield fella by origin, and the village I used to live still has "the tardis" still standing.

The above picture is the police box from my old stomping ground....a village called Almondbury in Huddersfield. I lived there for 16 years before defecting to this side of West Yorkshire. Although it's well maintained, it's withstood the test of time and withstood countless village idiots and still remains a prominent feature of Almondbury.
