Hello, new on here, thought I'd start a thread about old Leeds bus routes, what memories people had, how good routes were back then, where routes went etc. I remember a 28 and a 30 what ran from Cross Green back in the early to mid 80s, I believe the 28 ran to Adel via Leeds Mon to Sat daytime where as the 30 ran evenings and Sundays but not sure where to. There was also a 49 what served nearby East End Park but not fully sure of this route. Additionally there was the 61 and 62 city circulars what took on many routes during the 70s, 80s and 90s but always served East End Park/Cross Green in some ways throughout that time. Back in the 70s and early 80s I believe it missed out South Leeds up to 1983 and ran through Leeds Centre via the Headrow, after the city centre it ran via Black Bull Street and South Accommodation Road but I may be wrong. After 1983 it served South Leeds and had less of a route through the city centre and at some point in the late 80s or early 90s it also missed out South Leeds once more before returning to original route a few months later, the South Leeds part being replaced during that time by an extended 86. Finally other routes I remember include the 29 which I believe connected inner South Leeds and the city centre, a 66 which I think complemented the 42 to East Leeds, a 92 what terminated at Lawnswood and a 4 what served Ireland Wood but not sure where these ran from. Please post any memories you have, it'll be interesting seeing how much things have changed.

Didn't the 61 circular bus go down Bayswater Road at one time? My old bus route was the 67 Monkswood in the days of LCT and the half cabs, in those days the Leeds buses actually used the bus station. Easterly Road complete with milkmans cart.

ah the old East End Park circular 61/62. Nowadays I walk into town from East End Park, just go down Lavender Walk and Railway Street, which obviously runs parallel with the railway at Marsh Lane. The 62 you caught outside EEP and then it went down Cross Green Lane, past St.Hilda's church and then down East Street, into Saxton Lane/gardens and onto Eastgate. In later years it took in some of Hunslet. The other half of the route took in Blackman Lane,Bayswater Rd I think and Hudson Rd ( To service Montague Burtons ) Lupton Ave and then around to the park again

I think I only ever used it once after a Leeds United game, it seemed to go miles around, up by the infirmary first. Just trying to think if I caught it on Holbeck Moor, sure I did. You needed your sarnies and a flask to use that bus, you could get to Blackpool in the same amount of time you were on it
