Talking of Kirkstall Forge (and the proposed station) I've just come across this website that may be of interest relating to the proposed development of the Kirkstall Forge site and area. Apologies if the website is already known on SL but I could not find it on a search. http://www.kirkstallforge.com/amenities/index.html

Apologies if the website is already known on SL but I could not find it on a search. http://www.kirkstallforge.com/amenities/index.html They're coming on leaps and bounds with that development, last time I looked on site at the old waterwheel in 2010 there was one security guard in a hut, not a very good one either because I saw him, and he didn't see me.This is the progress to date http://goo.gl/maps/d4ibIt's looked like that and never changed since they flattened it 5 years ago. The google street view is even funnier, the builders sign at the gates says 'confidence you can build on' http://goo.gl/maps/cDWCAnd still the only man on site is the security guard in that hut!

I'm sure you're right there Cardiarms but, not ot put the damper on it, I would imagine its patronage would be limited as there isn't too much housing nearby when you consider the relatively good bus services which still survive at that location. This is perhaps why Headingley Station doesn't attract quite as many commuters as it might - oddly, Burley Park does much better but it is closer to the housing than Headingley is.
There's nothing like keeping the past alive - it makes us relieved to reflect that any bad times have gone, and happy to relive all the joyful and fascinating experiences of our own and other folks' earlier days.

One of the commitments of the Kirkstall Forge project was a new railway station which replaced the suggested one at Kirkstall Bridge. The station is still scheduled on the wymetro site for 2015 although it's quite possible that the development might not happen.

The view brought up through Phill's http://goo.gl/maps/d4ib link shows an interesting (well it is to me!) looking bend on the River Aire where the railway crosses over (you may need to move the view to show that bend). The meander type bend just does not look natural to me. I wonder if the river course was altered so that the Kirkstall Forge could be built there? The view in Phill's http://goo.gl/maps/cDWC link amused me. I can just imagine John McEnroe ranting of the development so far "You cannot be sirius". Apologies for that, perhaps it's my non-existent sense of humour .

It's interesting to photograph under those bridges where the river meanders Leo.Here's one of my photos under ithttp://www.flickr.com/photos/phill_dvsn/3907658672/Here's a photo of one of the bridges with Kirkstall Forge in the background. It's from David Hayes railway webpage herehttp://www.davidheyscollection.com/page27.htmThat section covers the line past Kirkstall, I see I get a mention in his captions too lol
