A most interesting photo story about the long history of locomotive building in Leeds herehttp://c9425687.myzen.co.uk/MRT/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=54&Itemid=132
My flickr pictures are herehttp://www.flickr.com/photos/phill_dvsn/Because lunacy was the influence for an album. It goes without saying that an album about lunacy will breed a lunatics obsessions with an album - The Dark side of the moon!

Many thanks for this post Phil. The area around Hunslet Engine Company was my stomping ground when i was a kid.If you look at the map of the area you can see were i lived in Ashley Street just off Pearson Street. We had factorys on all sides i can remember when the buildings were in a lot better condition than they are now my mum used to work in the Hunslet Engine Company canteen on nights. The building now called California House was a lot bigger it had two more building the same size joined on to it, there is now a carpet warehouse on the site. If you look at the apex of the old building you can still see a wooden vent we used to throw tennis balls up at this untill they lodged in between the slats. The other two buildings had the same vents.
No matter were i end my days im an Hunslet lad with Hunslet ways.
