Leeds trolley buses set to get the go ahead!Probably the saddest news, and biggest humiliation Leeds can suffer in my opinion.A whopping 235 million is about to be waisted, on a system that was scrapped because it was outmoded, and old fashioned.Leeds is the only city to introduce Trolley buses in Britain since 1971. That just about sums up the White Elephant farce of an idea up. Why does Leeds have to get second best, and other cities cast offs all the time? What benefits will this bring to the city? What about a public consultation to ask the Leeds people what they want? Surely 235 million can be far better spent.All were getting is Purple slugs with a pantograph stuck on top!http://www.tbusleeds.org.uk/Joke!

Don't get too downhearted - there is an election around the corner and the current government are promising anything and everything for the future in an attempt to hang onto power.Trolley buses this week, HS2 last week, free care for life in their own homes for the elderly the week before.I see the new entrance to the station has also got the nod...

I suspect bus patronage is down as Worst go out of their way to price people off them.Have you seen the cost of a ticket before 9:30am on a morning? Still, this is what happens when the transport authorities get into bed with one company and allow them to establish a near monopoly over services. Where is the competition in Leeds?

But i'd be overjoyed if this farce of an idea sank quicker than the Titanic      You are right,these are buses with a pantograph.Its still a bus,its not fast,it will be subject to exactly the same delays as buses have now.Ive not seen the exact details but i would suppose the driver will be taking the fares,if not,and they have a conductor to speed it all up then why not put conductors on all buses.This will speed up the whole process and provide extra safety and security for passengers and drivers.This will make the antisocial behaviour on buses come down,and this would encourage people like me to travel on a bus.Im not getting on any bus that runs nearby as there always seems to be some Richard Craniums onit,swearing and carrying on.Jeez,im getting old!!

I don’t have a particular opinion as to whether this is a bad or just plain rotten idea [and I don't even live in Leeds aymore] but...I understand that trolley busses have a bit more lee-way than trams would have, but do they have enough to get around all the road works that seem to be constantly going on?
