Some lovely images of Pete Pash's paintingsof old Leeds in particular transport scenes.Something has being lost in the descriptions.Leeds Central a "St Anier " loco,Stanier a famous loco enineer.Park Row. Park Row, painting by Pete Lapish (City Centre) Park Row, painting by Pete Lapishc1953. Watercolour painting by Pete Lapish showing Park Row in the 1950s. In the foreground is a Horsfield tramcar on Route 1 passing one of the two new single deck 'Coronation' cars. These had differing controls and were designed as the prototypes of a new fleet. The traffic lights were built in the coronation year of Queen Elizabeth II and are reputed to be the first in England. On the right the junction with Bond Street is visible. The traffic lights were there long before 1953 and are saidto be the first in England I think in the thirties. Are the image providers feeding wrong info or are Leodisstaff assuing too much ?
