In tonights YEP it is reported that there is trouble down at t'mill, or more accurately the Worst bus depot.Apparently despite making £30 million gross profit in the first 6 months of the year AND increasing dividents to shareholders by 10%, Worst have told their drivers that there is no money to cover a pay rise for them this year. The stance by Worst seems to be that the drivers should be grateful that they have a job! Quote: "This is not the time for staff to be asking for a pay rise. People are losing jobs, businesses are struggling and unemployment across the UK is at record levels". Perhaps, perhaps, but the figures above don't seem to suggest that Worst is struggling too much, do they?Story here:
http://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/n ... .jpAnyways, the planned strikes are for 7th December, followed by a 2 day walkout on 23rd and 24th December. That should have a nice impact on the travelling public and increase the number of drink drivers no end.

Interesting in a week, where from memory, the YEP has reported METRO will try and impose a contract on operators so that the massservice cuts like those recently implemented by u know who can't happen. I'm sure the same article mentioneed that said company's profits in percentage terms were something like treble the industry standard.First for profits, dividends, exploiting the workforce and passengers.Worst for service, reliability, motivation, confidence..........

Fair play to the drivers!!!!! I hate first group with a passion! Massive profits at the expense of it's core workers.

Re the dentists and lawyers etc, it's supply and demand, also three or four years as university then on the job training after that. That's why they earn so much after qualifiying.

Actually ,with all due respect, the last line should say,"and they can charge what they want, thats why they earn so much after qualifying"

As far as I know there isn't a shortage of either lawyers or dentists. NHS dentists, yes. But I think that rather illustrates my point.

After reading the thread title 'worst'driversI started to make a list,as regards ability I don't think bus driversfaired(fared?) too badly. To start :-Private hire drivers.taxi drivers.OLD people - I know some them need mobility/independancebut there comes a time where they are a real threat, one old ladyprobably verynice and someones dearly beloved great grannie still driving at about 90 years old nearly side swiped me on Street Lane recently.Eastern Europeans in their left hand drive ess aitch one tee. Those who do not know their left from their right, shake a six to go at a mini roundabout.I hesitate to name and shame 'lady'driversbut some of them are barely able to see over the steering wheel staring straight ahead and gripping the wheel like a kami kazi pilot oblivious to everything else on earth. Those who pull out at junctions/roundabouts etc causing you to brake who give you a kind wave in response to your horn and mouthed obscenities. And - as you might have guessed I am not in any of the above groups.Be careful out there !
