BIG DIG AT OAKWOOD

New gas main being installed.The big dig has started, following the route of the tram line from the controlled crossing to the derelict toilets.As usual, the original car park which was resurfaced last year is to have a trench through it.So far only this small piece of rail has been uncovered.

Great find there.I had a look down that hole on Friday evening, they'd only just dug out around the toilet then, I'm passing again tomorrow, I'll keep my eyes peeled

Do I remember someone saying the money for the car park came from the Councillors Regenderation pot?Did they check perhaps to see what major works might be planned in the immediate future before building it - Crossgates folly round twoGood to have another chance to see what's below though. Isn't this a rather major main along there, which seems to need something doing to it fairly often?
