Another Hunslet loco built for the sugar cane railway on the caribbean island of St Kitts. Now the line is only used to give tourists a scenic ride through the island.

It used to be said that the statue of the Black Prince had been placed in City Square , near the station, pointing South to tell all the southerners who've just got off the train to b****r off back down south!

The YEP of March 16 2013 has a report about a locomotive known as Cheetal (incorrectly given as Cheetah in the heading to the YEP report) that was built in Leeds in 1923 and is to be restored to working condition following its move from Armley Mills (where it has been since 1985) on a long-term loan to the West Lancashire Light Railway. An online report in the Armley Mills website can be found through this link:- http://tinyurl.com/bsljwtrIt is not strictly a lost Leeds loco but I thought it would be of relevance and interest to this thread.

In regard to treacle and parkin seams I have it on good authority (myself! ) that the engine in question was used to compress those soft seams very hard and so produce solid products, such as Mackintosh's and Thorne's toffee. They were then much easier to mine than in their gelatinous state and needed little post mining processing.

Re: Leeds lost locos
In 2009 I uploaded a photo of a steam roller bearing the Leeds coat of arms. I thought this meant it had previously owned by Leeds corporation, mistakenly as it turns out. Fowlers were allowed to use the coat of arms on all their engines. Here are a couple more Fowler showman's engines from a recent steam fair I visited in Cheshire.
