That will be the same Green Zone they made such a fuss about extending when they put the prices up the other week. They must think we're all idiots. Bigger Green Zone, slight pause, fares up to ensure profits remain scandalously high. The sooner Centrebus start to stick it up them the better.

Oh - so THAT'S why they often run through Town in pairs instead of leaving the terminus on time - I did think of ending that remark with rather more ribald words but I daren't !! LOL LOL

There was a ticket machine for sale at the collectors fair at Pudsey yesterday. I wish I'd bought it now

Well I spotted my first 3 buses by Centrebus today. Hard to miss really in their blue and predominantly orange livery. All three were Y reg single deckers (with apologies to Blakey and co builders and engine details are beyond me). They also still carry contact details of the "White Rose" bus company (can't fault them for that) of Leicester

Most of the ones drafted in for the new services are Dennis Darts of varying ages from several sources - without being unkind, they are certainly "past their prime."

They were superb reliable very light machines and were a pleasure to use. They were enormously popular with operators large and small. I have used them at Samuel Ledgards and West Yorkshire Road Car Co in my conducting days - and I still own SL40 which was with me at Ledgard's Otley Depot. As a fringe benefit for the Company they had at the rear a dial called a "statistical counter." This was set frequently in secret at a particular fare of the Company's choice and showed how many tickets of that one value were sold. Fiddlers beware - it was sometimes set at a fare which didn't exist on a particular route, or at all, and woe betide any Fiddler who sold any tickets of that value - this little device has seen many a foolish conductor taking a single journey to the Labour Exchange !!
