By Jove You've Got It !!!!!I started working for EYMS in Bridlington over 10 years ago, but still have fond memory of the time spent "On The Buses" in Leeds. It certainly is a different job to what it was 30+ years ago, but then I suppose a lot of jobs are the same.

Oh that's great Terry - what threw me out was that I'd always associated you with Torre Road you see.I have wonderful memories of the bus scene in Brid from being a little lad in 1940 - Gran and Auntie had a B & B in St. Stephen Road.I often visit Brid still as I have a friend or two there so will look out for you if you're still on EYMS.Don't want to be cheeky, but IF you have two minutes to spare in Brid I wonder if you could be kind enough to have a look in Westmoreland Avenue, almost opposite Joyland Amusements, and see if number 10 is still standing. This was the house my Gran had before St. Stephen Road and a long ago family skeleton has just come out of the cupboard and I'm anxious to get to the bottom of it.Much of Westmoreland Avenue was demolished long ago.Hope to bump into you maybe during the year.

MemoriesDo you remember Ledgards buses fleet no. 711 first rear loader with doors I believe, ONW2 Foden 2 stroke with vacum brakes (I can still hear it roar down Staningley Road) also LAE2 with beautiful polished wood windows ( often used on first trip to Troydale Mills)I used to do nights @ Headingley as well as book with CPY and also worked out of Middleton, Bramley, Seacroft, Torre Road and Swinegate.Yes I do agree This was a SERVICE BLAKEY ,smart and fit for purposegoverned by Fred Smith and the formidable Olive bless her. Of course this was all over seen by the ever helpful "we will send the Patrol Car(Morris minor estate)" control room.

Hi there Romeo - CPY here - great to read your memories.I am of course the number one Sammy Ledgard enthusuast - well one of MNAY number ones and remember all the vehicles you mention - was it not rather difficult to see through the beautiful polished wood windows of LAE 2 ?? For some reason it was slightly taller than others of the type and had several "roof rattlings" under the bridge in Whitehall Road near the Dragon pub - for that reason it was rarely seen on the Bradford service. Talking of the Personnel Department and the two characters you mention, don't forget poor old Brian in there - he of the flowery shirts and haughtily held shoulders Incidentally, I'm sure you know that "Olive Oil" was actually called Kathleen Pawson - and once I cheerily greeted her near Headingley Station with "Hello Olive" - this went down like a lead balloon and I received that famous look which told me I'd dropped a right clanger !!Please give me a clue as to your "Yorkshire" identity before you emigrated south to Derbyshire - I must know you eh ??
