This is a longer view of an AEC Regent IIIAnd the back view. And this is a Leyland PD3/5 280.The wider column in the middle been the bus I think you mean?I think the preserved bus photo does look very light and airy as you say. But that's minus the drivers blind being down the muck on the windows, foot scuffed floor and much darker worn upholstery of an everyday working service bus. Yes Phill......that's exactly the type(PD3/5 280)....WELL DONE.Good pics. The seats seemed to "wear" much better than current standard ones.Having said that, people didn't just spill just about anything on them(pop/crisps/pastys/chuddy etc etc),nor did they slouch all over resting their filth covered footwear all over the seats either, with who knows what stuck to the soles).....Uuugh

I think it's a shocking decline in society in general. Some young mothers don't seem to care how much their offspring are annoying other passengers, and if they do chastise them the air turns blue. As these specimens grow up minus parental control and any respect, they make pigs look well mannered!!

I know what you mean, but while a lot of people would do well to learn a few basic manners it's not an entirely new thing is it? Let's not forget buses (and trams!) used to have signs up saying "No Spitting", something that is still frowned on by the majority even now, and rightly so.

F.A.O. Blakey -As you mentioned in this thread Blakey I just wanted to say thank you for the photo you forwarded me - There is now a copy on the office wall at work, I now have a hard copy, as does the driver that was captured in your piccy. Also, you wouldn't believe the amount of canteen conversation it generated on the subject of the old Bradford interchange - good and bad lol. Thanks once again and apologies to S.L. peeps for off topic posting but my E.mail is giving me all sorts of trouble.

[quotenick="Phill_dvsn"] found this photo with the 'round thing' and tempting hole to stick your finger in. I believe it's a cover that screws off to top up the gear box and fluid fly wheel? Perhaps Blakey can educate us more. This is the interior of preserved Leeds half cab Leyland Titan PD2/11 Roe 212 UUA212 looking very smart. I used to think they smelt great!
Great photo that brings back a few. Somewhere on another thread here in SL I asked if anyone knew or remembered what that 'round thing' was. One of our kind bus blokes gave a technical answer.

Very glad that you liked that very historic picture BIG N - I was certain you would be fascinated and I'm very happy that the driver in the picture has been given a copy !!
There's nothing like keeping the past alive - it makes us relieved to reflect that any bad times have gone, and happy to relive all the joyful and fascinating experiences of our own and other folks' earlier days.
