It might not have been as major an incident as first appears 0532.There was a single dead end siding alongside the running lines where that coach has come from it is quite possible that it was the result of some over enthusiastic shunting causing empty stock to demolish the buffers and come to rest where you see it in the picture.

I'd noticed the small embankment in front of the bridge just under where the coach had come down. I think there's a similar set -up around Copley Hill. Presumably cheaper to terminate the siding there than build a wider bridge, - but not as safe.
We wanted to make Leeds a better place for the future - but we're losing it. The tide is going out beneath our feet.

The affection for his subject really comes out and he has interviewed people connected to the station from around the world as if he were reporting on a national monument. I love my local history and the Rothwell Historical Society has done some great an interesting work but whilst Woddlesford is a fine example of an over-busy, unmanned, ticket-machineless suburban station, remarkable it aint.
Ravioli, ravioli followed by ravioli. I happen to like ravioli.
