A nice little earner for the museum is there ability to provide buses for private functions, Weddings, day trips e.t.c. I'm sure it's a welcome cash injection as voluntary restoration work is very expensive!

The all new LEEDS HISTORICAL EXPEDITION SOCIETY will of course still be active in top secret missions uncovering the secrets of Leeds but it's also time to be more public friendly with occasional guest invites & more organised tours such as this! As we speak plans are been made for future ventures. Once again many thanks to the chaps at the depot for all there hard work in helping restore some of our heritage much unlike the owners of the ODEON who don't give a dam for ripping out our heritage for a fast buck! I won't forget that too easy! :-// GRRRR!!!!

Jan...I used to get the school special double decker from WLBH to Bramley Town street, most afternoons. There was one conductor we called "Fares". Long haired yob, who never said "fares please"...he just used to holler out "FAAAAAAARES!", in a really threatening voice. When the bus would turn a corner, he yelled out "hold tighty-wighty, while we go round the corner-warner"...total nutter - we never knew whether to laugh at him, or be scared of him!GREAT piccies, Phill..Thanks for the nostalgia.
You can take the lad out of Leeds - but you can't take the Leeds out of the lad.

I can recall a strong smell of rubber on those old buses. They used to slow down to walking pace on Burley Hill where some people would step casually off the back. They fly up now!It was 3 or 4d(half) for me to travel into town as a nipper. The LCT buses had different ticket machines to West Yorkshires and were a more sedate ride!
