You're more observant than me Blakey as I never spotted the buses! Thanks for the interesting information.

Thanks Leodian, but I must confess that I only spotted them due to being a transport history addict, and as a junior insurance clerk in South Parade I almost daily delivered items to Bains at Post Office House. These street errands could have been very boring, but were a real advantage as I was able to keep up to date with the bus and tram developments and movements "in the Firm's time" - I should think so too at £120 gross per ANNUM , and we were allowed to wear sports coat and flannels (but with tie) on the two Saturday mornings in three that we worked - how times have changed     
There's nothing like keeping the past alive - it makes us relieved to reflect that any bad times have gone, and happy to relive all the joyful and fascinating experiences of our own and other folks' earlier days.
