The old 29 route was mine for a while, main memory was we always got a small bottle of beer from an old lady on the last bus to the bottom of the Avenue from the Arms. But thats the good old days.
Is this the end of the story ...or the beginning of a legend?

P thought the 28 extended to Cross Green but this suggests Eastgate was its southern an eastern limit. I am sure I remember (late70's/early 80s) the 29 going to Moortown via Meanwood and Stonegate Roads but this only suggests Infirmary Street was its most northterly point

When I was a little chap in the mid/late 60's....I recall I could rely on a bus every few minutes going up the ring road to Middleton from near the old Rex cinema to see my gran....there was the 3,12,18 and 29 so was a bit spoilt for choice(don't recall if the circular ring road no9 was operating back then).....all on lovely rear loaders. The internal platform/floor,although not flat, could be a bit tricky and slippy in wet weather ! That wonderful smell of part leather seats and old bus tickets.........can't beat a bit of nostalgia (apologies few years prior to thread topic !)

Number 9 did operate in the 60s but it was only every hour I think so that's why you didn't see it.

Also the 97 ran from Bramley to Cross Green industrial estate but that bus was a weekday service only.Regards.

The other Dewsbury Road route (though a comparitively rare sighting) was Service 55 jointly operated by LCT with Yorkshire Woollen District Transport. It went from Sovereign Street in Leeds to Bruntcliffe via Dewsbury Road
