great stuff guys!"the photos were taken from the bridge you can see in the distance."Phill on bing maps been trying to find that bridge (top pic 10.26am post above) as it has a distinctive 3-arch shape. is it gone too? or replaced with a less arched one?

Yes that bridge too has gone, replaced by this remodelled area herehttp://g.co/maps/a9vn4That's unusual, just been looking at this building herehttp://g.co/maps/rfs9fIt looks like the old pub (Craven Gate.. thanks Jim and S&P) has had a major renovation and new brickwork. I thought it had been demolished. It's sad to see how the whole area has vanished over the years, It's very bland today.

Here's the 1921 map of the area, the old bridge carried Hillidge Place. Just look at the amount of trackwork and sidings.

This rather forlorn old arch on Pearson Street is the only remains of Shepherd & Todd Railway Foundryhttp://g.co/maps/nkys7In early days locos used to pass through this arch and across the road.You have to go way back to the 1850 map to see evidence of trackwork through that archway

yep looks like the same buidling as the pub to me.i take it the pub took it's name from the street and not the other way round
