Promise also not to deviate too much, but both those topics are extremely interesting and well documented.Leeds trollebuses ("trackless trams") ran on three routes between 1915 and 1928 :-Aire Street to New Farnley (Woodcock).Guiseley (White Cross LCT Depot) to Burley in Wharfedale (proposed extension to Ilkley never built)Guiseley (White Cross LCT Depot) to Otley Maypole.Leeds trams used the standard gauge of 4 feet 8.5 inches while Bradford chose 4 feet. Tapering track at Stanningley Bottom allowed through running between Leeds and Bradford by the trams of both cities. Special trams had to be used - with wheels which slid as necessary along the axles at Stanningley. This was never entirely satisfactory, and was abandoned eventually and the service split into two halves.
There's nothing like keeping the past alive - it makes us relieved to reflect that any bad times have gone, and happy to relive all the joyful and fascinating experiences of our own and other folks' earlier days.
