Monorail? Isn't that more of Shelbyville idea? LOL - I'm sure I'm not the only one who remembers the much hyped monorail? On a serious note though, it looks like I was right about the bendy buses. Speaking to a mate who lives in that there London, apparently Boris Johnson has promised to rid Londons street of the things, so there are going to be a lot of pre-owned articulated buses looking for a home soon. What's the betting they'll be forming convoys up the M1 before long, covered in a nice layer of Government spin about this new exciting form of public transport...

Have been working in Headingley for the last few months. These leaflets have been all over the streets.Which idiots at LCC leaflet a massive student audience who couldn't care less about transport and especially at a time when thousands are moving out and new influx are coming in.Do they expect West Leeds citizens to pay for this when there is no mention of West Leeds on the Planned System.

The use of public transport as a means to improve and protect the environment can only conceivably be a realistic proposal and taken up by the public at large if it provides a means of transport which is - reliable; takes people where they want to go; is available when it is required and provides realistic journey times.Whilst ever there is a need to create a profit over and above the running costs, only services which break even or better will be provided and this cannot aspire to the above criteria. The changes and service cuts by First in Leeds which become opperable tomorrow demonstrate this point. For it to be suggested that public transport is a viable proposition under such circumstances, let alone something which could be indirectly enforced by penalising those who don't or can't use it or who are not provided for by the service offerd and thus use private transport, is unjust and hypocritical at best, discriminatory and insulting at worst.Throughout almost the 40 years I have followed these policies, I have yet to see anything materialise which offers an encouraging and reslaistic alternative as a public service.

The whole thing is ridiculous, It takes me 15 mins to get from Roundhay to town on a morning. I leave my house at 7 and am at my desk for 20 past. Why, when I pay for a car anyway would I add an extra 20 mins for this whilst I wait for the bus to stop at every stop and pick up loads of people. Then I have to walk from Vicar Lane right to near the Town Hall which takes another 10 mins!Dont even get me started on the retturn journey up Chapeltown Road at 6pm on a weekday. There is simply no incentive whatsoever to use the bus.

Walk from home to stop plus 5 mins minimum to allow for early departure - a little more than 15 minutes; journey time (in practise I'm told) upto 50 minutes; (painful!) walk from stop to office, 10 minutes; total 1 hour 15 minutes assuming the things turn up - car 20 - 25 minutes, a return journey adding a significant and impracticable addition to my day, disregarding other factors.
