Well said Reg, get recording now before it's all gone.I used to like the coach station on Wellington Street, it has a lot of memories for me. Meeting people off the coach, starting off on long trips, being desperate after they closed the toilets!Vicar Lane bus station had a different feel to it. That was all about getting the bus to York or the coast. Don't know whether it will go in the Harewood Quarter development. Plenty of it left still though. How many quarters does Leeds have now, I'm sure it's more than four!!??

I recall fondly the newsagents near the loos in the old Bus Station, the Hagenbach's cafe, the long line of offices and the ladies loos glass walled waiting room. The small indoor market on the edge of the outdoor market which I am told was once a slaughterhouse. The line of lock ups adjacent to Milgarth and those on the edge of the outdoor market (there was a toiletries shop for years called Morrisons).I also remember buying school jumpers from Readmans in the market, it is now some sort of enormous lucky lucky man type shop which sells old calendars and pencil erasers with pictures of London Taxis on them. I can't for the life of my understand how it stays in business.
Ravioli, ravioli followed by ravioli. I happen to like ravioli.

We once went on an ordinary Bristol Lodekka - it took five hours! The journey back was not quite as long - the bus took a short cut through a bus garage in Malton and cut the corner off. Those were the days when Tadcaster, York and Malton were major bottlenecks.A few years later when we all had cars, we'd devise ways around these bottlenecks - going through Sherburn in Elmet, Bubwith, Driffield and emerging somewhere on the road between Scarborough and Filey!

I recall going to the Reading Festival with my mate from Wellington St. The ticket [one piece of paper] covered both of us for travel. The driver tore this paper in half when wet Leeds. It was only on the way back, at Victoria Coach Station that we realised that the driver on the out-bound trip had invalidated our ticket. This left us having to beg a ride back on the National Express, my mates dad having to meet us at Wellington St and pay for our return ticket, that got us back.

I'm not a fan of 'National Express' (?). For one they aren't National, there's loads of places they don't go,Scarb'ro' for one, and if you call taking 7 hours to get from Stafford to Leeds 'Express' then I'll show my a55 on Briggate!!

I loiked the sign.it had a jaunty 1950s 'contemporary' feel to it.

Hi,Two services operate from Scarborough with National Express. One service starts at Whitby and runs via Scarborough to London. This is sub contracted to Dunn Line, which took over Durham Travel. The other service starts at Scarborough and runs to Brecon. This is sub contracted by EYMS.I dont think they go through Leeds, possibly cannot compete with Yorkshire Coastliner who do a great job with some fantastic vehicles.Interesting snippet is that a couple of years ago before the transdev takeover Yorkshire Coastliner was the most profitable bus company in the UK. This occured for 2 years running.
