I was sat in my sons garden in Calverley this afternoon Sun 7th July and heard a strange aircraft engine noise. As the aircraft flew along the Aire valley I saw what I thought was a B17 or a Hudson bomber! It was quite low, probably about 3,000ft! It had 2 engines and D-Day white stripes on the fuselage towards the tail! Amazing sight! Anyone else see it>

About what time? My baby nephew had his attention on a loud plane around 2:50pm in Guiseley but I could tell you what type it was (being really girly about things like that lol)

It was Waddington International Airshow this weekend but I can't see anything that fits the bill on their schedule but it may have been something going back to Elvingdon. The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight has a Dakota that is mostly used for support so it might have been that.

However I must retract my sighting of a B17 as they had 4 engines upon looking at pics of them. It could have been a Dakota. I only saw it for a few seconds as it flew behind trees towards Leeds.

Planefinder.net now has a replay facility, something might show on that, its really user friendly. An older aircraft might not have the modern gizmo stuff needed to show up on the system.
